About us
Three generations behind the same counter
Grafton Jewellers has been on Grafton Street since 1987. We make, repair, resize and sell from one building, and everybody who answers the phone knows the difference between a bezel and a prong.
How it started
Des Byrne opened a two-counter shop at number 34 in 1987 with a simple idea: fair prices, written down, with the workshop visible from the shop floor so you can watch your own ring being made.
His daughter Niamh runs the place now, and Des still comes in most Thursdays to do the valuations. The bench upstairs has four jewellers; between them they have made over nine thousand engagement rings.

The workshop
Most jewellers in Ireland send work away. We do not. Everything below happens at number 34, usually while you wait or within the week:
- Engagement ring design from a sketch
- Remodelling family gold into new pieces
- Resizing, for life, free, on anything we sold
- Rhodium plating and polishing
- Hand engraving, done same week
- Valuations for insurance, from €45
What we promise
Prices written down
Tag prices on everything, no "come in and ask" games, and a written quote beats any competitor quote by 10% if you find it cheaper.
Real people answer
Ring the shop and you get the shop, not a call centre. Email gets answered the same working day by someone who can see the stock room.
Serviced for life
Free cleaning, claw checks and resizing on everything we sell, for as long as you own it. No receipt hunting; we keep the record.
